History and Prospect on Ecological Restoration of Mangroves on Qi'ao Island, Zhuhai

摘要: 珠海淇澳岛沿岸滩涂曾生长大量红树林,但因围海养殖、滩涂围垦、工程建设和海洋捕捞等人类活动和自然因素的影响,红树林面积锐减,红树林生态系统受到损害。随着政府的重视及保护区的有效管理,淇澳岛红树林处于逐步恢复之中。根据淇澳岛红树林生态修复的背景、内容、措施和成效等特征,分3个阶段[自发修复阶段(1998年之前)、集中种植阶段(1999―2007年)、系统修复阶段(2008年至今)]阐述30多a来淇澳岛红树林修复历程,分析红树林修复的经验与不足,并提出工作展望。淇澳岛的红树林生态修复经验对本区及我国其他地区的红树林生态修复有积极借鉴意义。Abstract: A large number of mangroves used to grow in the coastal beaches of Qi'ao Island, Zhuhai. However, due to human activities and natural factors such as sea reclamation, tidal flats reclamation, engineering construction and marine fishing, the area of mangroves has been reduced sharply and the mangrove ecosystem has been damaged. With the local government's supervision and effective management of Reserve Department, the mangroves on Qi'ao Island are gradually recovering. According to the background, content, measures and results of ecological restoration of mangroves on Qi'ao Island, the process of mangrove ecological restoration on Qi'ao Island in the past 30 years is described in three stages: spontaneous restoration stage (before 1998), centralized planting stage (1999―2007) and systematic restoration stage (2008 to present). The experiences in different stages of restoration are described, concerning the selection of appropriate restoration measures, restoration sites and restoration tree species, the emphasis of government departments and cooperation with scientific research institutions. Against the existing problems, the prospect of mangrove restoration is put forward. The study of mangrove ecological restoration process in Qi'ao Island has positive reference for the restoration of mangroves in Qi'ao Island and other areas in China.
